The Story of Veselka Canine Couture

Part 4 The Veselka Story – My New Home In London and the Rainbow Coat.

Hiya Lili here I hope you are well thanks for joining me again.

In this part I tell you about the rainbow coat and moving to London in 2022 just before the war.

My new apartment in London is a modest but pleasant little studio on the outskirts of posh Highgate in North London and archway a more working class area.

One of the later winter coats made from woven wool instead of being hand knitted. The Sleepy blue below has proven to one of the most popular winter coats.

Below is a picture of Waterlow park, it is my local park where I walk Marlon. In the summer it has the most wonderful flower beds which are well attended to by the park gardeners. People like to sunbath in the main field by the lake and have picnics. Every time we visit the park we take peanuts and feed the squirrels and the rats both of which run over to our calls 🙂

Waterlow-Park - Travellous World

One of the first things I noticed was how many people loved dogs here in England.

There were so many dogs of different shapes and sizes being walked in the local dog parks it was truly a doggy heaven 🙂

But to my surprise I couldn’t find a quality dog coat to fit Marlon, our Chihuahua.

All the coats I looked at were boring or didn’t fit and I wanted Marlon to look and feel a million dollars.

It just so happens that Jason wanted me to relax and learn about the city when I first arrived so I used this time to be creative and knit Marlon something special.

I figured Marlon is so small why not choose the finest and most expensive fabrics in the world.

So I bought the book “In search of the world’s finest wools” by Dominic Dormeuil and Jean-Baptiste Rabouan.

One of the amazing yarns from this book is 4 times softer than cashmere and I have used it to make a special new winter called the “Ice fleece of Veselka”.

I can’t wait to tell you more about this special coat when it is ready.

But the design and shape of this new special coat is actually based on the rainbow coat.

The rainbow coat was the first Veselka coat to be put on sale.

…iThe Rainbow coat is made from Virgin wool and was the first knitted coat which came with its own inner harness and fur lining.

Marlon got such an amazing response wearing the rainbow coat.

People would ask where we got the coat and often wanted to take photos of him.

I was shocked but also excited.

In Part 5 I wanted to tell you in more detail what went into the rainbow coat its my pride I hope you don’t mind.
